About
Making is better together.
The West Bethel Makerspace exists to make knowledge, tools, and creative confidence accessible to everyone—regardless of age, background, or prior experience.
We believe that making things builds more than objects. It builds skills, problem-solving muscles, relationships, and resilience. Whether you’re learning how to safely use a table saw, experimenting with digital fabrication, or sharing your expertise with others, this space is designed to support curiosity, learning, and community.
Our Mission
To provide an inclusive, community-driven space where people can learn, teach, and create—together.
We aim to lower the barriers to making by offering shared tools, hands-on education, and a supportive environment that encourages experimentation and lifelong learning.
Our Vision
We envision a community where creative skills are shared freely, knowledge is passed across generations, and people feel empowered to build, repair, and invent.
By investing in access to tools and education today, we’re helping build a more capable, connected, and resilient community for the future.
Meet the Founder & Executive Director
Dustin Sysko grew up on a remote mountain property in Newry, ME where DIY and creative thinking were not only a way of life, but a necessity. His life since then has been one of design, engineering, and creation. He’s had the good fortune of being a member of several makerspaces around the world, and in each one, he found vibrant communities of artisans and teachers who inspire everyone around them.
3 years ago, he moved back to Maine. Since then, he’s been determined to build a space where the community around him can have the same access to knowledge and experience as he had, regardless of their age or background.
