Materials fee: Included — most tools available to borrow from the instructor
In this hands-on class, you'll learn to make two iconic quilt blocks — Flying Geese and Half-Square Triangles — using quick-piecing methods that make the process fast, accurate, and fun. Whether you're brand new to quilting or picking it back up after a long break, you'll leave with finished blocks and the skills to keep going at home.
What to bring
4 Fat Quarters (a quarter-yard cut of fabric) — or a bundle of scraps you already have on hand
A working sewing machine (can borrow from Travis)
All other supplies available to borrow from Travis:
Rotary cutter
Ruler
Cutting mat
Snips or scissors
Straight pins
Seam ripper
About Your Instructor
Travis (he/him) is a queer and trans bag maker and quilter who comes from a large family of Maine quilters. He started making quilts in 2006 and has been teaching Intro to Quilting since 2016, originally in Portland, Oregon. When he's not sewing, you can find him canoeing Maine's wilderness lakes or picking his banjo on his porch in Westbrook.
